Fifty-Eight Paintings, 2009
For this series, I set out to make one small painting per day for two months. The purpose of this goal was to limit my time working each piece, both in order to implement faster decision making and to keep from overworking the color. I used a stencil for laying down each composition and used the same limited color palette throughout.
Monstrosities, 2008
With this group of work I relied heavily on sanding away at each piece to create space that moved beyond the forms. Each panel displays the same five color palette.
Clay Dungeons, 2007-2009
Each painting in the series "Clay Dungeons" started with the aid of a single stencil. I used the stencil (many times over) to create the underlying drawing for each composition. With the use of acrylic paint, I both eliminated as well as embellished various facets of the original layout, using thin layers and drybrush techniques to bring each work to its completed state.
